Suzanne Witkin was an elementary school teacher with the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) from 1986 to 2018. She has worked as a classroom teacher, a TDSB Literacy Consultant, and guest lecturer at the Faculty of Education at The University of Toronto. Suzanne was seconded for a year at the Ontario Ministry of Education, where she was the principal writer of the Province’s Curriculum Guide to Effective Instruction of Writing, currently used in public and catholic boards of education throughout Ontario. She was a member of the writing team for the TDSB document Teaching Children to Read and Write, used in schools across Canada.
Suzanne grew up at Temple Sinai. Her family became members of Temple Sinai in 1962. She was consecrated, had her bat mitzvah, and was married at Temple. Suzanne and her husband, Blake have 3 children, all b’nei mitzvah at Temple Sinai and are Camp George alumni. Suzanne has been Co-Chair of the Temple Sinai Religious School Committee and contributed to a variety of other initiatives at Temple.
