Marci Trachter-Shane is passionate about learning and passionate about making the world a more inclusive and caring place.
With a Business Degree and over 25 years’ experience of working in a wide range of industries and running her own advertising agency for many of those years, she has a long track record of making things happen. As VP of Corporate Communications at Refined Data, an IT Web conferencing company, she engages, creates momentum and helps sustain growth. She tempers this business focus with a commitment to the community and charitable causes close to her heart.
In 2016, Marci was recognized by The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada for her contribution to Stroke Research through her production and direction of a series of 3 original musical concerts called Hit That Jive Jack. With the help of several talented, Grammy award-winning musicians, she raised over $150,000 dollars for the cause in memory of her late father, who died of a sudden stroke in 2008.
She was also recognized as an Ambassador for The Ride to Conquer Cancer with her team, SHIfT Happens, raising more than $350,000 over 7 years.
Marci and her husband Terry Shane, have 3 amazing kids, Jess 25, Madelaine 23 and Daniel 20. They have all had their B’nai Mitzvot at Temple and were active in Temple youth programs.
Marci loves to laugh. She enjoys a healthy, active lifestyle, playing in a woman’s baseball league and cycling whenever she can, whether at home or on vacation. Her newest learning is Cello lessons.
She looks forward to contributing through the Board to this special place: Temple Sinai.
