Temple Sinai Congregation of Toronto

Madeleine Cooper

After completing her studies at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Law over 10 years ago, Madeleine decided to dedicate her legal career to the regulation of financial institutions. In her professional roles, Madeleine participates in equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives and has co-chaired a diversity committee where she worked to raise awareness of different issues facing employees of a variety of backgrounds.

Madeleine is originally from Montreal where she was a member of Temple Emanu-El Beth Sholom for many years, prior to joining Temple Sinai in 2012. From 2020 to 2022, Madeleine was a Reform Jewish Community of Canada board member where she supported youth initiatives. Prior to that, she served on the Temple Sinai board from 2016 to 2020. Madeleine has participated in Temple’s rabbinic and cantorial search committee, nominating committee and fundraising committee. Before joining the board, Madeleine was a Temple Sinai delegate on the 2014 March of the Living and she organized events for Temple’s NextGen and lawyer groups.

Madeleine and her husband, Danu Mandlsohn, have two young daughters who love coming to Temple’s young families events. Her older daughter is a student at Temple’s Sunday school.
