Heather has been a member of Temple Sinai for more than twenty years, since shortly after she moved to Toronto from Windsor via Israel. From her daughters’ baby naming ceremonies to Community Preschool, Tot Shabbats, volunteering opportunities and a bat mitzvah (with one to go!), Temple Sinai has always been at the centre of Heather’s Jewish family life in Toronto.
Professionally, Heather is a creative and passionate storyteller with a proven track record of success developing and producing award-winning video content. As a freelance writer, she has written for the Canadian Jewish News, The Jerusalem Report, the Toronto Sun, Lifestyles, Macleans and People Magazine.
Currently, Heather works as a Senior Public Affairs Advisor for a Toronto hospital and research institute, developing content for social media, producing public outreach events and providing media training to doctors and scientists, with a goal of making science more accessible to the public.
Heather is also passionate about giving back to her community. In addition to Temple Sinai, she has also volunteered with Ve’ahavta, the North York Harvest Food Bank, Kids Kicking Cancer, Liberation75 (Holocaust education conference), and in 2020, she and her family started the @50daysofkindness Challenge on Instagram, encouraging followers to perform random acts of kindness in their communities.
