The Progressive Talmud with Rabbi Jordan Shaner
May 4 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Why should Reform Jews study the Talmud? The wellspring of rabbinic thought, the Talmud, has been denigrated by Judaism’s foes, diminished by its reformers, and ignored by its adherents.
Despite this, the Talmud contains a wealth of material that teaches us about reconciling competing values such as tradition vs. innovation, responsibility vs. compassion, and idealism vs. pragmatism.
At the first of four sessions, we will discuss egalitarianism and women studying Torah.
