YOUTH GROUPS

Lech Lecha

Learn about the wider Jewish world!

Join our Temple Sinai travel program called Lech Lecha (go forth)! Grades 7 and 8 are invited to join the spring trip that alternates every year between Boston and Southern Ontario. This is the first of many years of possible teen travel with Temple Sinai that includes a Grade 9 and 10 trip to Washington DC or New York City, and an Israel experience that happens every other year for Grades 10-12.

WALLAH!?! (Grades 4 to 6)

“The Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup.” WALLAH!?!

“I just saw a bush on fire and it did not turn to ash.” WALLAH!?!

“Seventeen kids bounced, flipped, leaped and jumped together at SkyZone.” WALLAH!?!

Wow!?! What a sight to see our kids in grades 4, 5 and 6 laughing and playing together. Youth groups at Temple Sinai are an energetic and engaging way for your children to build their Jewish community and Jewish identity through entertaining activities inside and outside of Temple.

This Israeli slang word is exclaimed after hearing something wonderful and unbelievable (Really!?! or WOW!?!) Our youth have such a wonderful time together, they asked for extra events.

Junior Youth (Grades 7 and 8)

Calling all members in Grades 7 and 8! You are enthusiastically invited to join us for an exciting year. Once a month, on Tuesday nights before religious school, we will have lounge night, so come out to play, eat, and schmooze. Join us for the many exciting events we have planned. Do you have a great idea for an event? Let us know!

Young members will learn about events at religious school as well as online. All information for parents about these events will come via flyers in the mail and Chadashot.

Grades 7 and 8 are full of excitement pertaining to bar/bat mitzvah; whether before, during, or after this momentous occasion, Junior Youth Group is an opportunity to experience fun programming with other Jewish young adults.

League of Temple Sinai Senior Youth (LOTSSY) (Grades 9 to 12)

Come and take part in all that LOTSSY has to offer. We have many great events planned, like our Shul-in and a trip to Horseshoe Resort. If helping others is your passion, come and take part in our social action outings. They are a great way to get involved and make a difference in your community. Come have fun and learn about your heritage. Tell us what you want. Make it happen! Join today!

What our youth say...
Temple Sinai is such a nice, traditional synagogue with a warm feel. We love bringing my daughter to the Purim carnivals and look forward to bringing our other kids to events.

I was looking to extend my current exercise routine when Power of Posture and Pilates Classes became available at Temple. I hadn’t taken group classes before, but I was inspired to participate at Temple because of the friendly, familiar and nonjudgmental environment, the opportunity to meet new Temple Members, the extremely affordable cost for the classes and the excellent instructors. The classes are great and I would encourage others to join!

2017 will forever be remembered in our hearts and memories as it was the year we participated in the March of the Living. We partook in the journey looking for answers but returned only with more questions. Back in Toronto, we asked ourselves what are our obligations to this world are and how can we become more involved in the Jewish community around us? NextGen is one of the many ways. Sometimes you have to let life turn you upside down, so you can learn how to live right-side up.

Temple Sinai was the right community for us; the one we wanted our children to grow up in. We are delighted with our choice. We have found so many friends here at Temple and feel that this community is like our family.

I’m very involved in Temple and Temple activities, but the Lawyer Connections group has introduced me to other counsel Temple members. As a criminal lawyer, I don’t normally mingle with the non-criminal bar. I look forward to future events.
