Invitation to Participate in Media Bias Study (ON, BC and QC)

Diversity Institute is conducting a research study in Media Bias and Underrepresented Groups.

The focus of this study is to help understand how Canadian news media represents members of Black, Indigenous (First Nations, Metis, and/or Inuit), Muslim, and Jewish communities; the impact of news media representation on members of these communities; and ways to improve representation of Black, Indigenous (First Nations, Metis, and/or Inuit), Muslim, and Jewish communities in Canadian news media organizations.

To participate you need to live or work in British Columbia, Ontario or Quebec, self-identify as Black, Indigenous (First Nations, Metis, and/or Inuit), Muslim, or Jewish and be over the age of 18. If you agree to volunteer, you will be asked to participate in a virtual focus group discussion of up to 10 participants. Ryerson’s Diversity Institute is looking to recruit up to 150 focus group participants. To participate in the research you will need access to a computer with a webcam and audio with a microphone, as well as a stable internet connection. You will also need to have the Zoom application downloaded on your computer.
