Renaissance Group Presents the Hit Film Aulcie
Sunday, May 2 at 7.30 p.m.
Aulcie tells the story of Aulcie Perry, a basketball legend. In the summer of 1976, he was spotted by a scout for Maccabi Tel Aviv on the basketball courts of Harlem and was signed to play for their fledgling team.
Under Aulcie’s guidance, in the team’s most extraordinary season in its history, Maccabi Tel Aviv captured the 1977 European Championship and repeated that victory again in 1981.
This is not only a film about basketball in Israel. It is the story of Aulcie’s personal life journey, his many challenges and his decision to convert to Judaism and become an Israeli citizen.
Winner of an Ophir (the Israeli Oscars), presented as the Opening Film of the New York Jewish Film Festival, selected for the Scottsdale International Film Festival and chosen as an Audience Favourite at the Toronto Jewish Film Festival, Aulcie immerses the audience in a truly incredible tale.
Following the film, a pre-recorded interview with filmmakers Dani Menkin and Nancy Spielberg.
