Join us as we welcome writer Philip Boehm, who recently released to much acclaim a new translation of The Passenger. Originally written in German in 1938 by Ulrich Boschwitz, it tells the story of Otto Silbermann, a German-Jewish business owner living in Berlin who flees his home in the immediate aftermath of Kristallnacht. It describes the weeks following his escape, offering an intimate portrait of Jewish life in pre-war Nazi Germany at the onset of dehumanization.

We will be joined by Philip Boehm, who will speak about the novel, his translation and share important passages.
