A Star is Borsht!
The Harvey Atkin Young Jewish Performer Competition
Wednesday, March 16 at 7.30 p.m.
Virtual Megillah reading and competition
Whether in comedy (Meatballs) or drama (Law and Order), Harvey Atkin distinguished himself as an actor whose range and professionalism enabled him to perform on a par with some of the most famous actors of our time: Burt Lancaster, Bill Murray, Gene Wilder, Dustin Hoffman, to name a few. This year, Temple Sinai honours his memory by giving five young Jewish performers a chance to further their careers, showcase their talents to entertainment industry professionals, and provide us with a great way to celebrate Purim.
On Wednesday evening, March 16, joining us will be performers Shannon Leibinger, Lily Librach, Ben Page, Ilana Zackon and Seth Zosky. All of them have already distinguished themselves on stage, television or cinema.
In addition, they will be performing together in a Purim play written especially for this occasion by the eminent Canadian author, playwright and screenwriter Emil Sher. Hosting will be Temple Sinai’s very own David Eisner, with music provided by Temple’s longtime friend, the great Mark Camilleri.
This program is sponsored in loving memory of lifetime member and resident filosof Harvey Atkin z”l by Celia Tessler Atkin.
