A native of Richmond Hill, Beth began her cello studies at the age of four. She has studied with Wendy Smith, Barbara Pepper, Simon Fryer, Rachel Mercer and Shauna Rolston at the University of Toronto, where she received the Gregor Piatigorsky Scholarship. She is currently a Master of Music candidate at McGill University in Montreal, as a full scholarship student under the tutelage of Matt Haimovitz. Beth has received numerous awards from the Royal Conservatory of Music, the York Region Arts Council, and the Kiwanis Festival. She has also played with the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, where she received the Martin Gelber and Yo Yo Ma Scholarships; the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra; and currently plays in the McGill Symphony.
This year with the Chagall Trio, a piano trio composed of three music students at the University of Toronto, Beth was asked to program and perform for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s “Young People’s Concert Series”. The Chagall Trio also enjoyed many performances throughout Ontario, taking part in “The Gift of Music” concert series in Creemore, Ontario, as well as multiple concerts at venues throughout Toronto and performances in the Orford Arts Academy Summer Festival in Quebec.
Beth performs regularly in the greater Toronto area as a soloist and chamber musician, and is excited about her new prospects in Montreal.
