Israel Connections

Youth in Israel

Temple Sinai is a dedicated supporter of the State of Israel. As part of creating a positive connection to our Temple home, we invite our youth to visit Israel. This learning experience is subsidized by the Diamond family in memory of Eph Diamond, so that the travel opportunity is open to everyone.

This travel experience gives our children a chance to connect with the real, living Israel of today through the eyes of Reform-affiliated Israeli teens. Our youth were asked: What do you remember from the Israel Youth Mission? And they answered:

We went to Independence Hall, the place where on May 14th 1948, the declaration of Israel’s independence was signed. We had the privilege of sitting in the very room where Ben Gurion announced that there was now a Jewish state.  — Sammy and Arthur

My experience with three-year-old Sulha, at Save A Child’s Heart, was amazing. Even though she was not Jewish and did not speak English, we still had an incredible time together. It helps children around the world get the needed heart surgery that they cannot receive in their home country. —Jaclyn

Coming into Israel was such an amazing experience for me. It was my first time and I couldn’t have been more excited. The best moment was when we were first able to see the sea meeting with the country itself. — Rachel
