Brigadier General (Ret.) Israela Oron is an analyst and commentator on security and strategic affairs, with a broad background on gender issues. Serving in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) Oron broke through gender barriers serving in various key positions. She was the first woman IDF deputy spokesperson, was the first woman who served on the faculty of the National Defense College commanding an all-male officer training course in the air force. As commander of the IDF’s Women’s Corp, she initiated significant reforms for women in the IDF and in Israel.
