Read Locally. Think Globally. — 28 Stories of AIDS in Africa
Join us for our upcoming book review of 28 Stories of AIDS in Africa, by award-winning writer Stephanie Nolen. The stories offer 28 portraits of people who have been affected by AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa. It is a place that is more heavily affected by HIV and AIDS than any other region of the world. An estimated 22.5 million people are living with HIV in the region — around two thirds of the global total.

Join Temple members Linda Lean, Jo-Anne Page and Sharon Polansky who will explore three of the stories: Siphiwe Hlophe, Winstone Zulu and Ida Mukuka. These stories will inspire you to reflect on how we can, as a community, help to care for the millions of children orphaned by AIDS. Come and learn about the Grandmothers Campaign, a program that supports grandmothers in Sub-Saharan Africa. Pick up your copy of 28 Stories of AIDS in Africa from our Lewis David Katzman Library, Toronto Public Library or Rabbi Daniel Mikelberg.

Cost: $2 (Refreshments will be served.)
